You could read this book and do the writing activity anytime! I just think it would make such a great activity for Halloween! The first thing I did was read this book. The students loved it and it was a great way to teach adjectives!
After I read it, we listed all the adjectives.
Then I put out craft items like pompoms, googly eyes, yarn, foam stickers, etc. The students used these items to create their own monsters. They loved doing this! It is great how excited the students get when you put out fun craft items for them to use!
Look at how creative their monsters are:
How cute are these!
Next, I encouraged my students to look at their monsters closely and think of all the adjectives that described them. Then I gave them writing paper and they wrote all about their monsters.
I displayed them out in the hall and the kids would walk by them, point to them and talk about the monsters. They were so proud of them!
We also played these fun monster games as we practiced our sight words.

We hope that you will try this monster writing activity. You will love what your babies will come up with and how excited they will get creating their monsters. If you try this, we would love for you to come back and let us know how it went.
Until next time,
